Founded in 1968, the Library Action Committee of Corona-East Elmhurst, Inc. (LAC) is a 501(c)3, tax exempt, not-for-profit community based organization. LAC founded the Langston Hughes Community Library and Cultural Center and operated it as a "federally funded special project of Queens Library from April 1969-Oct 1987, when it gained full branch status. The LAC operates Langston Hughes Library's after school Homework Assistance Program and the Cultural Arts Program.
